Health Guarantee

When you adopt a Maine Coon kitten from Snowy Mountain Maine Coons, a Colorado based Maine Coon cattery, your kitten comes with a two year written health guarantee against congenital defects.  Our Maine Coon kittens are vaccinated at 8 and 12 weeks of age during this time they also receive a well-baby examination by a licensed veterinarian.  We vaccinate our Maine Coon kittens against the following:

Feline panleukopenia (feline distemper) This is among the most widespread of all cat diseases, and is extremely contagious.  Characterized by fever, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhea, feline panleukopenia causes high death loss, particularly among kittens.

Feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR) This is a highly contagious respiratory disease characterized by sneezing, appetite loss, fever, and eye inflammation.  As the disease progresses, a discharge is noticeable from both nose and eye.

Feline calicivirus (FCV) This is another serious feline respiratory infection.  Often occurring simultaneously with feline viral rhinotracheitis.  Signs of infection are similar to FVR (fever, loss of appetite, nasal discharge), but calicivirus-infected cats may also have ulcers on the tongue.

Feline Bordatella (Bb) Feline Bordatella is also known as Kennel Cough, a complex of infections rather than an infection by one agent is recommended if the adopting family has a dog. We recommend any family who is adopting a Maine Coon kitten from us have their veterinarian vaccinate against bordetella.

Our Maine Coon kittens are de-wormed with Nemex-2 de-wormer, at least three times by the time they are 12 weeks old.

If a Maine Coon kitten is flown on an airline and is over 16 weeks of age the kitten will be vaccinated against rabies.  Rabies is one of the worlds most publicized and feared diseases and is almost always fatal.  Rabies virus attacks the brain and central nervous system and is transmitted to humans chiefly through the bite of an infected animal. In 1981-1982, for the first time, more cats than dogs were reported to have rabies.  This situation has led many authorities to require rabies vaccination for all cats.

Health Guarantee – Specifics

Seller warrants that the described kitten is progeny of animals that are healthy and shows no sign of any life-threatening congenital defects. A congenital defect is more commonly known as a birth defect. Most are present at or near birth. Seller guarantees the described kitten against life threatening congenital defects for two (2) years from the date of birth of the kitten. This is a limited guarantee and the Seller must be notified when the congenital defect is first detected. Congenital defects are limited to the following: life threatening cardiomyopathy, entropions, cataracts (cataracts may undergo spontaneous resorption within the first year [i.e., disappear]; if not, and if the retina is working, surgery may be needed.), degeneration of the retina, Cleft palates and cleft lips, Megaesophagus, portosystemic shunt (liver), Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), seborrhea oleosa, amyloidosis, and mucopolysaccharidosis. If a claim for any of the above-referenced congenital defects is made, written verification from a licensed veterinarian must be provided to Seller with a description of the kitten’s congenital defect and their opinion as to seriousness of the defect. Seller reserves the right to have the kitten re-inspected by its own veterinarian for confirmation of the defect before replacing the kitten. In this event, the kitten will be replaced with a comparable replacement when one becomes available. Comparable replacement will be like sex and color. Buyer is solely responsible for any and all shipping related expenses. The kitten described does not have to be deceased for Buyer to make a claim for congenital defect and receive a replacement kitten.   UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL SELLER BE OBLIGATED TO BUYER FOR A CASH REFUND OR VETERINARIAN COSTS.
